Not all fluoroplastics can be recycled, limited to the current technical conditions, some fluoroplastics temporarily do not have a good technical means to implement recycling and recycling, like the vast majority of thermosetting plastics, can not be effectively recycled.
Although some fluoroplastics can be recycled and recycled technically, the implementation cost is too high and the economy is not feasible. For example, a large number of fluoroplastics mixed in municipal solid waste, many disposable plastic packaging, materials made of plastics and other materials, etc. Fluoroplastics manufacturers call these fluoroplastics non-recyclable fluoroplastics (or pollution fluoroplastics).
Of course, due to the continuous development of technology, non-recyclable fluoroplastics can also be economically recycled. According to the different principles of recycling, the destruction of fluoroplastics manufacturers generally divide the recycling of fluoroplastics into 4 levels:
Level 1Recycling fluoroplasticsRefers to the use of the usual processing methods of recyclable fluoroplastics (scrap, etc.) processed into products with the same or similar properties as the new material;
Secondary recycled fluoroplastics refers to the fluoroplastics (scrap, etc.) processed into products with slightly poorer performance than new materials by one or more processing methods;
The three-stage recovery of fluoroplastics refers to the recovery of the chemical components in fluoroplastics, making them into monomers, chemical raw materials or fuels;
Four-stage recycling of fluoroplastics refers to the recovery of energy from fluoroplastics through incineration.
The processing division of primary and secondary recycling is often not very clear, such as the production waste of phenolic plastics, waste products are often added to the pure compound for the production of the same product with little change in performance, but the recycling of phenolic plastics is still classified as secondary recycling.
The reason is that recyclable waste phenolics only act as fillers when mixed with pure compounds, and do not have the characteristics of pure compounds themselves.
A similar situation exists for the division of tertiary and quaternary recoveries. Some incineration devices use a two-step treatment method, that is, the first thermal decomposition of fluoroplastics, and then incineration of thermal decomposition products, although it is used to recover energy, but because these wastes are first converted into monomers or chemical raw materials, so this two-step treatment method is still divided into three-stage recovery.
Usually recycling fluoroplastics manufacturers call primary recovery and secondary recovery physical recovery, also known as mechanical recovery. This method uses mechanical means, such as crushing, compaction, granulation, melting granulation, etc., without changing the chemical structure of the original plastic;
Three recovery is also called chemical recovery, is the use of chemical means, such as hydrolysis, pyrolysis, recovery of monomer, fuel or other chemical raw materials, the use of this method of recovery of the chemical and physical properties of the material has been completely different from the plastic; Four recovery is also called energy recovery, the use of incineration methods to recover the energy in fluoroplastics.
