With the development of economy, it is estimated that the world demand for PFA particles will reach 3.5 million tons around 2008. But at the same time, the export volume of PFA products in China is about 10 million tons, and the export volume of PFA products accounts for about 1/3 of the total output.
At present, although PFA particles still have a wide range of use value, but because of its production technology is generally mastered, so in foreign countries, major companies specialize in supplying high value-added engineering plastic particles. It mainly includes the blend system of PC (polycarbonate), PBT (polybutylene terephthalate), PA (nylon), POM (polyoxymethylene), PPO (polyphenylene oxide), PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) and other PFA as the main body, and ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer) resin modified material which is often attributed to engineering PFA in some occasions. In recent ten years, the world average annual demand growth rate of PFA particles is about 10%, and the growth rate of engineering PFA particles with the highest added value is as high as about 15%.
Foreign engineering PFA particles have occupied the vast majority, alloying has become the main method of engineering PFA modification. However, China's engineering PFA particles have few varieties and poor quality, and the annual import volume accounts for more than 60% of the total demand. The research on PFA particles in China began in the 1960 s and has developed rapidly in recent years. At present, the total consumption of PFA particles (including modified resin) in China is about 1.2 million -1.4 million tons, while the domestic supply is only 600000 tons, with an annual import volume of about 900000 tons. Moreover, China's PFA particles (mainly blended resin and modified resin) are mainly used in home appliances, electronics, automobiles, cables and other industries. Compared with developed countries, China's PFA particle application market still has a lot of room for expansion.
With the sustained and rapid development of my country's economy, my country's PFA particle market demand potential is huge in the next few years, especially the rapid growth of electronic communications, automobiles, and building materials industries, which will drive the rapid development of my country's engineering PFA particle industry. It is estimated that by 2018, the total demand for PFA in China's five major projects will reach 10 million tons, and the demand for the five major synthetic resins will reach 92 million tons, making it one of the largest importers of PFA particles in the world.
